  • You need to contact Bulb, best phone them Monday.
  • Hi @GlendA1106 what would you like to change it to?

Hi @Will at Bulb I got in touch via the live chat a while ago to make this same request and was told I wasn't allowed to do this - even though I provided multiple links to various posts on here where this was done right away for members. How come?

It sounds like we need to do some better communication internally about that. I'm sorry that you were told the wrong thing. If you'd like to change it, let me know what you'd like to change it to.
  • @Will at Bulb, what are the necessary conditions for changing a forum username? Obviously it's technically possible but I presume a request to change it regularly would be turned down?

Referral links still cannot be changed, correct?
  • @mowcius we can change both. The bottleneck is that only two of our team can do it, and their time is very in-demand.
  • That said, @Simone at Bulb is looking into making some of this a self-serve feature.

This does concern me slightly as I've seen plenty of links that are close to falling foul of 16.3.2 .
Obviously the text that goes along with it makes a big difference though.
16.3.2. You must make it clear when referring a friend that it is a personal recommendation and that you do not represent Bulb or any Bulb employee when promoting your Personal Link.

Perhaps automatically submit requested new links for review when they contain the word Bulb? That'd likely catch most dubious ones.
  • @mowcius Or perhaps leave the running of the company to the actual company - they've not done too bad so far ;)
  • @mowcius the process so painfully manual already that your idea is (for better or worse) already implemented. Some of the links you're talking about, I believe they're vestiges of a simpler time. As usual, we'll let them be for now on the philosophy of 80/20 type of prioritisation.

@ellen979 we genuinely welcome customer feedback. Our admittedly corny motto is that our best idea was to listen to your ideas. Indeed, I think we could do a *better* job than we're doing on this, for example by making the open roadmap more interactive.

@Andrew at Bulb Totally get it. Just seems like certain members feel like they have to respond to every single forum post as if they work for Bulb when you guys are managing things perfectly fine :)

We love it so much though
  • 16.3.9. Personal Links may not be posted or shared on review platforms such as, but not limited to Trustpilot and Google reviews. This is to protect the integrity of reviews.

@ellen979 Have you seen this in the Terms & Conditions? I notice your link appeared up there 45 minutes ago.

@mowcius How sad that this is what you spend your time doing. Making a little bit of cash through referrals to put towards travelling is much more exciting - as well as bringing more valuable customers to Bulb <3</p>

Did you mean to mention @xxx there instead? I avoid Trustpilot like the plague.

Regarding what I spend my time doing, remember that there are a lot of hours in the day and that people are entitled to spend their time doing whatever they please. I don't feel sadness regarding the number of posts I've made on here, more happiness that I've been able to assist Bulb in their growth, and other Bulb customers with issues that they've had.
Money's really not everything in this world.

You perhaps also underestimate the difference that an active forum can make to the image of a company, especially online.
when you guys are managing things perfectly fine :)
There's a quote I can't find right now, but let's just say they've had some struggles and not all has been fine.
  • Sorry @mowcius, that one was meant for me. Ignore it.

Relieved you couldn't remember it... but at the same time, I want to know more about this damning quote...

@Andrew at Bulb, I found it (no sneaky help from Google either as it only seems to index some threads on here every couple of weeks).

I was thinking of this quote (from this post):

We've grown a lot recently, and in recent weeks we've not been responding to our members as quickly as we'd like to. To get our service back on track, we've thottled our growth right back, and we're investing heavily in recruiting more Energy Specialists to join the Experience team.

My comment of "not all has been fine" was more in relation to the "gas reading validation dumpster fire" though ;)
  • From the article:
"dumpster, contains not one but three plosive consonants within two syllables. It's an inherently funny phoneme bonanza."

    Preach it.

Does anyone pronounce the 'p' in 'dumpster', though?

    Raises hand tentatively
  • Does anyone pronounce the 'p' in 'dumpster', though?

    Yep.

A "dumster" sounds like a slang term for a poorly educated person.

  • Does anyone pronounce the 'p' in 'dumpster', though?

    Yes!
  • @Andrew at Bulb, I think you're now obligated to do an internal Bulb poll on the matter and report back
  • Yes.

I think you're looking outnumbered @Andrew at Bulb
  • Hi all, Canadian Bulb Specialist here and I can confirm I say 'dump-ster'
  • And another Yes from me.
  • Another vote for a silent p from me.
