£300 allowance

I have been told that anyone receiving state pension can claim an allowance of £300 annually direct from their energy supplier. Is that correct? If so, how do we claim?

Hi I wonder if you are referring to the Government Winter allowance scheme, which varies between £100 and £300 depending on your age and if you are living with someone? You would get the payment direct from the Government and not your energy supplier.

Details can be found on the Government site: https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment

If it is the Government Winter allowance and this is your first year that you are eligible then you need to claim (Allanr link above) thereafter it will come through automatically direct to your bank account.
