I’ve joined Bulb for green electricity, economy 7. Government new scheme offers me free gas boiler central heating. But gas is fossil fuel. Surely it’s greener to stay electric? Small flat, I run one storage heater, immersion heater, also use gas fire.
It probably is but I for one wouldn’t want to pay the cost of all electric. I will be as green as I can within reason as cost is a contributing factor.
I think it’s greener to burn gas in your combi boiler than to use the electric grid for heating during winter time. (Yes i know you pay for green electric, but you ‘use’ whatever is feeding the grid.)
Efficiencies and losses of gas powered electric wont come close to 90% efficiency of a new gas combi.
