Electricity price rising fast

We are electricity only customers with night storage heaters.
The unit cost for day usage (inc’ 5% vat) in July '20 was 17.745p. The rate in July '21 is 21.353p. A rise of 20.3% - yikes!
The cost of “Economy7” night usage has gone from 9.051p to 13.769p. A rise of 52% - crippling!!!
The daily usage charge has gone up from 20.0865p per day to 25.23p per day. A rise of 30.5%!!!
At current rates our annual electricity would cost £2,762.59. At July 2020 rates our years electricity would have cost £2,061.53. Our electricty has gone up 34%.
Come on Bulb, you’re having a laugh.

Welcome to community and thanks for posting.

I appreciate that our prices have increased a lot over the last year. We’ve had to increase our prices because the cost of supplying energy has increased significantly over this period. For example, wholesale costs are up by 29% since March 2021.

What’s happening in the wholesale market is increasing prices for suppliers across toe board. Since the new price cap level was introduced in April, fixed deals with other suppliers have also been increasing in price.

We always give our members 30 days notice in advance of a price rise before it goes into effect for transparency, and don’t have exit fees.
