Energy Tariff for EV Charging - Electric Car

Does bulb currently offer, or is it likely in future to offer any special tariffs for people who install and use home EV charge stations for electric vehicles?

Many thanks

Hi @Szico_VII , good question! At the moment we do not have something in place yet regarding a different tariff, a more elaborate Bulb account, etc. regarding EVs. However, it is definitively something on our radar and we have some people on it to see what work best :).

For now, I can’t give you more than a promise that we are looking into it, but do keep an eye out on our community and/or blog for any updates on this :D.

All the best,
Erwin

You don’t even really need a specific EV tariff. Just rebrand your Economy 7 tariff when you finally launch smart meters, and have fixed the energy usage graph to actually work properly. Give the £50 credit by default, and market it as “Get up to 2,500 free miles when you switch to us!”

7.95p / kWh at night
£50 @ 7.95p / kWh = 628.93 kWh
628.93 kWh @ 4 miles / kWh = 2515.72 miles.

@katherine244 - that’s a great idea! Ofgem will still want us to label the E7 as such, but the messaging of “2.500 free miles when you switch to us!” is a good one. Thanks for the feedback

Is there any progress on this issue?
