You don’t. Just submit your meter readings as usual. Remember that your monthly payment is not the bill. You’ll only be billed for energy you’ve actually used based on your meter readings. If you’re away and miss a meter reading, then you’ll be billed on estimated usage which will likely be too high due to you being away. Don’t worry about it. It’ll correct itself the following month when you submit your new meter readings. Also remember that the standing charges for supply will still be billed even if the property is unoccupied. The supply is still being provided, it’s your choice to not be there to make use of it.

Your payments will continue, you don’t get a “payment holiday” just because you’re away. You could, however, manually lower your monthly direct debit to a smaller amount for the month you’re away. Though there’s not much point in doing this really.
