Green Energy affected by non green energy prices

It seems unreasonable that wholesale market prices for green energy are the same as non green energy. Bulb buys all its energy. Does this rule apply to green suppliers who generate their own green energy within the UK?

@quilter, sadly this does apply to all green energy in the UK.

Renewable electricity is priced at the same price as all other energy, plus a REGO certificate which is purchased at the same time.

This means that renewables can not currently be any cheaper than non-renewables.

Hopefully in the future this will change, but it’s completely out of Bulb’s control.

Hi @quilter I am afraid @mowcius is correct. As it is all electricity the two generation sources (green and non-green) are linked through the one wholesale market. We agree it is frustrating!
