We live in a well populated village in Norfolk. Like many rural communities our home is not connected to the national gas network. We have no alternative but to use alternative, more expensive energy. Our cottage is all electric and we chose Bulb as our supplier because it was 100% green. Our carbon footprint is probably lower than most so why does the government not encourage the use of renewable electricity by relinquishing the 5% VAT if a company such as Bulb meets the criteria. It would incentivise people to go green.
Governments may well offer inducements to companies which I believe they do for smart meters and for wind farms that sit idle but a loss of income via VAT is unlikely as they are never too keen on helping Joe public.
