Had a new electricity meter installed? Have you considered reducing the risk of fire?

Independent testing shows that movement of meter tails (in a similar way to what can occur during a meter chage) can drastically increase the risk of them becoming loose in your consumer unit (fuseboard), increasing the risk of a loose connection or arcing that could lead to loss of power or fire.

If you’ve had a new meter installed, consider asking a local electrician to come and re-torque the connections on these incoming cables. If you’re a landlord or get electrical safety checks carried our regularly, ensure that your electrician checks the torque on these connections as well as testing your house circuits.
