Is new EV tariff possible if no gas available

I am on Economy 7 with electricity only as I don’t have gas in my area. I have just been offered the new EV tariff and it looks like a good deal even without an EV car to charge up however it also says that I will be moved to a variable gas tariff. This is probably so that they can charge more for the gas but since I don’t have gas does anyone know if they will let me on the the EV tariff?

Hi @DorsetDJ, welcome to Community

There are no issues with you having all electric and no gas. As long as you have a working smart meter you should still be able to sign up for the EV tariff.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this,

Generally if you move to an EV tariff, Energy companies require you to confirm details of the car (Reg No’ etc.)

Thanks for that Katie. Can you confirm that it’s OK to have the EV tariff before I get my EV (which won’t be for several months at least)?

I have now switched to the EV tariff, all seems to be OK.

Glad to hear it @DorsetDJ - how are you finding things?

Do you have any comparison feedback to share? It would be great to hear what you think and if there is anything we can do to make the transition any easier for members.
