London Mayor Renewable switch

I’ve just noticed some great news from late last week. It looks like the Mayor of London
is moving forward with plans to change TFL to renewable energy.

This press release has some really interesting info. TFL is the single largest consumer of electricity in London using 1.6TWh per annum (the same as over 437,00 homes or equivalent to 12% of homes in London).

I think this is a huge win for renewable energy.

I picked up on this as well and you’re right it is a massive success for renewable energy

It great to see the government aware of their impact and leading by example and even better to see that they’re aim for a zero-carbon railway by 2030.

I’ve also seen that they’ve been using waste heat from the underground to heat some homes and schools, which is amazing!

What do you think about the target of being carbon neutral by 2030 - do you think it’s possible?

This is really cool @julia_b

I was reading about something similar earlier in the month about a trial funded by the Mayor of London for EV commercial delivery vehicles. :blue_car:

This trial ran for 2 and a half years and the results are pretty amazing. :zap:

The electric vans delivered on average 30% more parcels per week, the cost was 75% less than fuel costs to run diesel equivalents and they used 5x less energy per kem than their diesel equivalents.

I love projects like this. :deciduous_tree:
