Could I possibly get a new meter and if available a smart meter.

Hi @david853 . We aren’t offering smart meters just yet but will be rolling out smart meters to our members from early 2018. This is because only first generation smart meters exist in the UK right now. If we installed one of these on your wall, only Bulb would be able to read it. If you switched away from us, it would lose its smart functionality. We think it would be a bit unfair to do that.

Second generation smart meters will be available in early 2018. We can put you on the list for our smart meter trial if you like?

We can always send an engineer round to update your meter to a dumb one. If it’s broken, Bulb will cover the cost of the exchange. If not, we will charge you. For prices, feel free to email us at or give us a ring on 0300 30 30 635.
