Move electricity and gas meters

Hi, our meters are currently in a cupboard, against an external wall inside the house. Is it possible to move them to the other side of the wall, and house them so they are external? The house is 1930s and made of granite - would this cause an issue, as I realise the bricks are thick? Also what would th cost be for this? Thanks

@Brand It sounds like you’ll need to get the distributors to move the meters (the people who manage the mains supplies into your properties). We can only move meters within one meter without them moving from one side of a wall to another. I’ll email you with the details for the distributors in your area.

Hi Henry,

Is it possible you could email the details for my area too?

I am having a house extension due later this year and the walls where the meters are currently will be knocked down so require them moved!

@RobinW Yep, I’ve emailed you them now. In the future for anyone stumbling on this thread- if you need to know your Network Operators you can find them out here using the little postcode box in the top right  http://www.energynetworks.org/info/faqs/who-is-my-network-operator.html
