My new account with Bub

Please could you let me know my account number for my reference to yourselves.

Also, please could you let me know if you have informed my former energy supplier, namely EDF, that I am no longer a customer of theirs as I was under the impression that Bulb was doing this. They have recently contacted me asking why I have discontinued my direct debit with them!

Please can you answer my query as above. Thank you.

Hello @Retirement12 ,

This is a community forum intended for Bulb customers to help each other (although occasionally Bulb staff do pop by). If you need to know specifics of your account, you’ll need to call them or drop them an email (see https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/115001240291-How-can-I-get-in-touch-with-Bulb- ).

However, to try and answer your questions:

  • Bulb doesn’t really have account numbers - they have account email addresses (i.e. your email address is your account number). Your property will have an ‘property reference number’ as well which can be seen next to your address by logging into your account at https://account.bulb.co.uk (the sign in link top right corner) .

  • The switch over from your old supplier takes around 21 days, but Bulb do bill a ‘month in advance’ to enable them to buy electricity+gas before you use it -and it can take 6 weeks for your old supplier to ‘finalise’ their accounts. So for the first month, you’ll still be with EDF but you would have been billed by Bulb for month 2. Month 2 you’ll be on Bulb and billed by Bulb for Month 3, but you may receive a bill from EDF from Month 1. Month 3 you’ll still be on Bulb, billed by Bulb but will hopefully receive a finally closing bill from EDF during this time. Until you’ve received your final/closing bill from EDF, you shouldn’t cancel any direct debits. Bulb will inform your previous supplier of the switch. Ideally you should have left your direct debit in place otherwise your previous supplier may try and prevent the switch if you a balance to pay.

It is all explained in more detail on this Bulb page: https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/sections/115000338032-Previous-supplier-Exit-fees
