National Energy Mix

I’ve noticed that the national energy mix quoted on my energy bill doesn’t appear to be accurate (38% coal???). I did some googling and found some figures on wikipedia; Could bulb please explain?

“The use of coal power fell by a fifth in 2014 to historic lows not seen since before the Industrial Revolution. Coal supplied 9% of UK electricity in 2016, down from 23% in 2015 and 30% in 2014.[2] In May 2016, for the first time solar power produced more electricity than coal, producing 1.33GWh compared to 0.9GWh from coal.[3] On 21 April 2017 for the first time since the 19th century the UK had a 24 hour period without any generation from coal power.[4]”

Hey there @robepton, the fuel mix in our bill are hardcoded stats from 2015. We’re looking to update them so that they’re more up to date. Thanks for letting us know, we value all feedback from our members!

Thank you.

@robepton no problem, let us know if you have any more questions.
