Found this on YouTube - a Hydro scheme called Turbulent.
At 2:00, that doesn’t look particularly fish friendly, but maybe it’s fine. It’d be interesting to know the typical RPM.
I like the concept though for smaller scale generation as it (in theory) leaves a flow along the natural river path for animals to continue to use.
In practice though, I wonder if on a real river, the generation would either be minimal from the turbine, or the flow and depth of the river where it’s been diverted will be significantly reduced, causing issues.
It’ll be interesting to see their progress over the next few years.
For the canals they’re talking about though, it seems ideal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA-llCWO_8w)
