New smart meter problems

Hi,
I’m having problems with my new smart meter and the replacement gas meter.
This is the first charging period since my new smart meter was installed. I ahve received an email saying thtat apparently the smart meter cannot get readings from teh gas meter so I will still ahve to manually enter these. fine what ever.
I went out today to take a reading and my analog meter has been replaced by a digital one, and the only number that gives me cannot be my meter reading as it is 1/2 as large again as the old meter reading was (which had been in place for at least 12 years), in less then one month that cannot be possible.
also I cannot get a meter reading from my electric meter, so I have no idea if the readings form the smart meter (which seem really high even given prices going up) are legitamte or not.
