No Clarity Three Different Rates

Hi everyone, I joined Bulb after agreeing with a quote which I signed for.
The quoted amount was a one off rate of 12.600p per kWh.
After joining, I looked at my account and there were two rates, a daytime rate and a nightime rate
The daytime rate was shown as 15.34p per kWh, not the 12.600p rate that I signed up for.
I wrote to them and asked them to sort out the obvious difference between the quote and the shown amount.
I received an automatic email reply stating “Thanks for your email. An Energy Specialist should respond within 5 working days.”
5days? I decided to cancel and the cancellation went in to progress.
After a few hours I received an email with a pdf download of my Welcome pack, even although I had cancelled my switch.
The welcome pack contained my Tariff info, and it showed a daytime rate of, wait for it, 14.61p per kWh
So to sum up, that’s 3 different prices.
12.600p per kWh
15.340p per kWh
14.610p per kWh
Bulb, Can you explain the confusion as I would like to rejoin at the 12.600p rate, and for that to show up in my account.
I look forward to your reply with explanation.

My take on your sitaion.

  1. The 14.61 per kWh is likely to be exclusing VAT which is the same as 15,34 per kWh when you add VAT at 5%

2, When you did the quote with Bulb did you indicate you were on Economy 7. I’m guessing that since you joined Bulb that have identified were on Economy 7 with your previous supplier.

  1. The day rate tariff if you are Economy 7 is higher than the rate for customers not on Economy 7.

Thanks for your reply, Alan.

1./ The addition of vat at 5% does indeed convert 14.61 to 15.34.

2./ I’m not on Economy 7, although I do still have the old off peak meter which is disconnected and non functional, as it has been for many years.

I only require the 12.600p per kWh tariff.

Thanks for your reply, Alan.

I’m guessing that Bulb thinks you have Economy 7. If you would like to check you last bill with your previous supplier it will show your Supply Number, it will be shown with a letter S followed by two rows of numbers. On the top row does it start with 01 or 02?

On my last bill, two meters are listed (see attachement) As I saidpreviously, only one meter is working and the off peak is disconnected.

It looks as if Bulb possibly have the wrong meter details for you, Hope they sort it out for you.

Thanks, Allan,

@Niteprowler The 12.6p per kWh rate is only available to members who have single rate meter. As you signed up with the 2-rate meter you would have to go for the higher day and lower night. Unless, we replace your meter which would cost £120.

On the industry database you still have two live MPANs which we would have to charge you for, one is 2 rate and one is 1 rate. If one of these should be de-energised it might be worth getting in touch with your current supplier and getting them to update the details for this MPAN.

If you want to be with Bulb on the 1-rate you will have to sign up to us using your address and the MPAN ending in 100.
