Pay as you go - top up

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help me or give me advice.

I am on pay as you go with my gas and today received an email about a direct debit that didn’t go through so I went on my Bulb account and it’s telling me from January to November this year I owe a certain amount and I have to pay on the 11th of December and if not paid will have a 15 pound added fee if my payment details or not responded back within 48hours

I am confused why I am being asked a direct debit and why I have a bill if I am on pay as you go.
