Anyone switched and was cheaper for first month then now dearer than I was with previous suppliers

No. The unit rate (pence per kWh) and standing charge have always been the same for me, except during specific tariff price changes with 60 days notice. What have your unit rates and standing charge increased to between month 1 and month 2?

Your experience may be a combination of a number of things:

  1. Bulb increased their prices on 11 November for existing customers

  2. Bulb asking customers to increase their DD payments to cover increased energy usage during the winter months.

  3. Bulb having to use estimated meter readings in the absence of customer read meter readings

However putting all these too one side, the valid question to ask is how does Bulb unit costs and standing charges compare against your previous suppliers. You may find that although Bulb have increased their unit costs so have your previous suppliers.
