Power cut

Hello there, we had a power cut this weekend and when the power came back on our oven will not work.
Can I claim for the repairs?

I don’t think you will be able to claim against bulb. if you can claim against anyone it would most likely be UK Power Networks, however I am guessing to start with you would need to prove the power cut caused the defect

I suppose you have checked for a tripped circuit breaker in the fuse box?

You wont have any claim against Bulb, but you possibly have a claim against your regional power distribution company if your supply was off for more than 12 hours under normal weather conditions. They’re not going to pay for your oven though. Protecting your electrical items is your own responsibility, in terms of installing a UPS or surge protection on sensitive circuits. Even with liability, you’d have to prove that the supply went sufficiently out of spec to cause damage, which is going to be impossible. Assuming the supply stayed within spec, simply switching off and on again isn’t going to damage anything that doesn’t already have a pre-existing fault.

Have you tried setting the time clock?

@Henry321 The others in this thread are right, please contact your Power Network.
