Prepayment to direct debit

I have just moved into a property and it currently has a prepayment meter supplied by Scottish power. The prepayment meter is currently not working and I have been advised that I will need to wait until a new prepayment meter comes into stock for them to fit that (which I don’t want) and then wait a further 2 weeks for them to fit a direct debit meter. I want to move provider to bulb, can they fit a new meter for me which will be paid by direct debit?
