Request for a meter reading even though I Smart meters!

Around 3 weeks ago I had smart meters installed.

Today I received an email from bulb asking me to submit some meter readings:

“If you’d like us to calculate your monthly statement using your actual usage, enter a meter reading in your Bulb Account in the next two days. No worries if you can’t, we’ll use an estimated reading instead.”

I’m confused! I thought the whole point of smart readers was that I no longer needed to submit meter readings as they could be read remotely and yet here is bulb asking me to supply one or they would use “estimated” readings!!!

What’s going on bulb?
