Smart meter and new address

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help.
We have recently moved house and stayed with Bulb.

We received our smart meter at our old house a couple of months ago and I wasn’t sure if the meter stayed with the person or the house.

So…when we moved, I brought the meter but at the new house there is also a meter. I have the new meter plugged in but Bulb is saying that I haven’t sent new meter readings to start up my account. I have sent electric because I can read that on the meter but can’t read the gas one.

I don’t know what to do?! Please help :slight_smile:

The in-house display (IHD) is tied to the meter and should have stayed at your old property. If you have a smart meter in your new home, that should have an IHD connected to it already? IHDs don’t show your actual meter readings, though. To give Bulb meter readings at your new home, you’ll need to find the actual meters and read the numbers from them directly. see https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/115001232832-How-do-I-read-my-meter-

You should also contact Bulb directly to find out if they’re able to read the smart meter at your new home. They can for some makes of meter, but not for others. https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/115001232092-Can-I-switch-to-Bulb-with-a-smart-meter-

I didn’t post them! I haven’t been on the forum today until you tagged me in your reply. Look at the dates of the posts - Feb 2018. Something definitely amiss here.

Thank you! I will send my old IHD back to the old address. We could take an electric reading from the meter but the gas meter is shwong blank but I’ll follow your instructions.

@EmmaD - yes, please send the IHD back if you’re able to. It will only work for the meters at the property as @coles has said.
