Im in the process of switching to bulb from british gas. What happens to my smart meter?
Hi @katie1404 – it is possible to switch your supply to us. However, we can’t operate your smart meter in the way that your existing supplier is currently able to do for you, as it is a first generation meter. Because of this, you would need to read the meter manually and submit these readings to us using our super simple online portal.
We are working to be able to integrate other suppliers’ meters. However, this will not be until late 2018.
Do Bulb provide Smart Meters?

Currently, only first generation smart meters are being installed in the UK right now. If we installed one of these on your wall and you changed energy supplier you wouldn’t always be able to use the smart meter’s functionalities. We think it’d be a bit unfair to do that to our members, so we will begin installing second generation meters as soon as we can get them and they will be able to communicate with any supplier.
