Smart meter

I’ve had a email about installing a smart meter, however when we moved from British Gas to Bulb we already had Smart meters installed by them
Do we need these replacing or are they compatible?

Hi @Erik, it is likely that British Gas installed a first generation, SMETS1 smart meter. We are currently able to read about a third of these meters - and have launched a smart tariff to go with it.

For most members however, we are unable to read their existing meters, therefore we will be installing a brand new SMETS2 smart meter as soon as they become available in your area. We’ll let you know details about this when they’re ready
