Smart meter

We had a smart meter fitted a couple of months ago and it does not work. Gives odd readings with electricity( inaccurate) but none for gas.
Contacted bulb and they said they were aware there are problems with the meters but they are working on sorting these out. Nothing has changed though.
Since having these fitted I have not been able to get a monthly bill so decided to go out and submit a reading manually like before. Just found out that the gas meter has no reading that I can take down.
Has anyone else had Thai problem? I am wishing I had never had it fitted.
