Just heard a programme on radio 4 say that if you don’t have a smart meter by Jan 2020 you won’t be able to continue to claim the money from feeding into the national grid. Is this true and if so how quickly can bulb get a smart meter fitted?
I think this is related to those not on existing and ongoing FIT schemes.
Solar panels fitted today need an export meter to measure how much is exported to the grid. Whilst there are various ways of doing this, the most practical is simply to have a smart meter fitted since this already log both import and export.
If the smart meter logs export how can I access this data?
It depends on the meter. It’s easy on my Elster AS300P. I’d suggest pushing random buttons on your meter to work out what all the menu options do.
