SMETS1 Meter and Electric Cars

I have an older generation smart meter but Bulb have been reading it remotely for a couple of months now and I can now see my daily electricity usage cost. I have just purchased a plug-in hybrid and would like to charge this off peak at a lower cost but the Bulb website says I need a SMETS2 meter.

Why won’t my SMETS1 meter work as it is already being read remotely?

I’d guess that the remote read capability for SMETS1 is limited to daily or monthly readings at present, and most likely does not support/offer the half-hourly read frequency needed for Bulb’s Smart Tariff.

That’s a possibility, thanks. I changed my default to read every 1/2 hour a couple of days ago so we can see if that works. If not, you’ll be right.
