I have an MSI GS63 Stealth laptop, which is hooked up to an external monitor. The power button is on the side of the Laptop, but whenever I try to turn it on it never works. I have to open the screen just a couple of cm to turn it on. I have my laptop set so when I turn it on, I can close the laptop display and use my monitors display instead. I was wondering if there was a way I could turn on my laptop, without opening it? Thanks!
Are you on the right customer forum??
Hi @hienaphine637 and welcome to our community
If you have it set to just be in a sleep mode when the lid is closed and you have an external mouse, you should be able to wake up the laptop by just clicking the mouse. I’m able to do this with my laptop and external screen (although I prefer to rock a dual screen).
However, from what I’ve seen online this task doesn’t have many clear answers. It doesn’t look like this is possible if the computer is switched off. But I may be wrong on this.
Also, I’ve heard it is not often the best idea to keep the laptop closed as the fan can’t work properly and it may overheat your computer.
I hope that helps
