I am attempting to switch to bulb and do not have access to previous tenants bills therefore am concerned the rate I am going to be charged per month is not representative of how much we will be using. Does the vari-rate give you money back if your meter readings show that you are not using the amount you’re tariff is set at?

When signing up, a generic estimate can be made just based on the type and size of property.
As the meter readings accumulate over time, it will start to become apparent whether you need to adjust the monthly direct debit amount. This can be done yourself via your online account dashboard. You can also do one-off ‘top ups’.
If the amount of credit becomes excessive, you can request via phone/email to be refunded, as long as there’s enough to cover your next monthly statement.
