We’re changing the pricing chart on our homepage

The energy market is confusing. At Bulb, we want to make things simple so they are easy to understand. Energy doesn’t need to be complicated.

This is why we have a pricing chart on our homepage to show how Vari-Fair stacks up against everyone else. Even when we aren’t the very cheapest.

The chart on our homepage uses live data from Energy Helpline, a price comparison website, to show the price of all the cheapest tariffs available right now. It updates automatically when a new tariff becomes available. But, while seeing so many tariffs at once is great, our chart is quite cluttered.

The view on mobile is especially terrible. It’s no good being transparent if things aren’t simple enough to understand.

So, instead of showing over fifty tariffs on mobile, we plan on showing just two: Bulb ‘Vari-Fair’ versus the average of the ‘Big Six’ Standard Variable Tariffs. With over half of UK homes on a Standard Variable Tariff, we feel this is the best comparison that can be made on a small screen.

On desktop, we have also removed the category “Other 100% renewable tariffs”. While we are currently the cheapest renewable supplier in market, our aim is not to compete against other renewable suppliers. In fact, we would gladly welcome more renewable tariffs.

By removing the green bars, it is easier for our web visitors to see who the genuine bad deals are.

We’d love to hear what you think of the changes. Let us know in the comments below.

I think the new mobile view could stand to have a third bar showing average of all 50 tariffs

Thanks for the suggestion William
