What hours are night rate elec?

thanks

Presuming you’re talking about economy 7, confusingly that depends on the meter you have.

Most don’t account for BST either so the hours change twice a year compared to standard time.

If your meter has a clock, I’d recommend that you check to make sure that’s accurate (to GMT) as whatever time your night rate starts is measured from that clock. If it’s out by more than 15 minutes, I’d suggest requesting an engineer visit to correct it.

Someone from Bulb will no doubt pipe up soon to confirm the specific times of your meter from looking at your account though.

(There are a few other threads hanging around about this here too. One in particular about incorrect clocks being this one)

Another way…

On your electricity bill you’ll see something like this

Make a note of the 3 digit “Meter Time Switch Code” and search for it on here

EDIT
The link is now dead, common codes here:
Code Time
500 Single rate
501 Single rate
801 Single rate

803 Cheap: 23:30 – 06:30 clock time
804 Cheap: 23:30 – 06:30 clock time
805 Cheap: 23:30 – 06:30 GMT
806 Cheap: 23:30 – 06:300 GMT
807 Cheap: Midnight – 0700 GMT
808 Cheap: Midnight – 0700 GMT
809 Cheap: Midnight – 0700 GMT
810 Cheap: Midnight – 0700 GMT
811 Cheap: 00:30 – 07:30 GMT
812 Cheap: 00:30 – 07:30 GMT
813 Cheap: 00:30 – 07:30 clock time

As an example, mine changed from 801 (single rate/non E7)

to 811 (E7 00:30-07:30) after having my E7 meter fitted…

@mowcius @phproxy Wow, do either of you guys want a job =) cracking knowledge there. @EWilliams Your meter runs:

Day: 0730-2330
Night: 0000-0730, 2330-2400

And correct, this won’t change with BST so keep an eye when those clocks move.

Thanks!
Laura
