Wholesale prices

Ok, can someone explain how, when Bulb energy is supposedly 99% renewable and based on hydroelectric, that this is affected by the increase in wholesale gas and oil energy? Have wind and wave energy suddenly gotten more expensive to produce? You’d think it was in pretty constant, regular supply. Are there fewer waves now…? Or am I being naive?

Hi @Stephan - Because a lot of our energy is bought on the wholesale market, once there’s a shortage in one of the supplies, it can affect the price of all the other ones. This is especially true if Natural Gas is the one with the shortage as many UK based powerplants are gas-fired to create electricity.
